Blog entry No.1: INTRODUCTION AND GETTING STOKED FOR WINTER
Where: Premier Inn London Heathrow Airport What's playing: 'Animals- Martin Garrix': a perfect track to represent my pre-season stoke levels!
At first it was over 6 months away. Soon it was 6 weeks, then it was a month, then it was a week, and now it is NOW! My name is Sarah, I'm 25 and will be on the EA Snowboard Instructor Internship in Norquay, Banff this winter. The programmes offered by EA seemed to provide the best option to me for getting out there, qualifying and diving straight into life as an Instructor.
After a crazy week of sorting out final VISA paperwork, going to the bank, packing, seeing friends, more packing, EA pre-season instructor workshops and even more packing I am finally here- in my hotel at Heathrow Airport, ready for my flight out to the mountains in less than 24 hours!
As I write this, my snowboard lies next to me at the foot if my bed and I can literally not wait to get it on my feet and have some real Canadian snow underneath it. As you can see from my pictures below winter cannot come soon enough for me!
Last month I went to the Chill Factore in Manchester, where I met an EA Program Rep (Joe) along with a few of the other guys (Niamh, Sinclair and Simon) who are also starting Instructor Internships in the various Canadian resorts. This was a great chance to meet like-minded people and get some advice off those who have done this already, and I feel safe in the knowledge that I am going to have the best time of my life alongside some great people.
I am sooo excited about the months ahead, waking up to a mountain back-drop every day when I open the curtains and just doing what I love to do day in day out, and sharing this passion with people who are new to the sport.
