Snowboard instructor training course – Revelstoke – Charlotte Terrien – Blog 2

Calendar December 18th, 2014

Charlotte Terrien is currently training on 4 week EA Snowboard instructor training program at the legendary back country heaven of Revelstoke, Canada. She will come out with her CSIA Level 1 snowboard instructor training certification! Check out her latest news here...

If you haven’t made up your mind about which resort to go to, don’t think much more and choose Revelstoke! We've only been here for about 10 days but it already feels like home.

First off, the snow is amazing. Since opening day, we've been doing a lot of off-piste and finding fresh powder hasn't been that hard… Even when we are right next to groomers. Locals say this is still nothing compared to the amount of snow they get later in the season so I can’t even imagine what a powder day looks like in Revy! Another nice thing about this resort is the amount of inbound terrain available to ride. It’s a challenging mountain with steep slopes and a lot of cliffs but great to learn how to better intermediate skills. All skiers and snowboarders have already improved so much! Despite only having three lifts, people easily spread out on the mountain and I have never waited in line for a lift, which is a real change compared to European resorts!

Revelstoke is not a very big town so you get to know people pretty easily and everybody is really friendly - they are here to have a good time, just like you! We also have a good EA group where everybody gets along. About half are skiers and half are snowboarders, which gives a good balance.

Before coming to town, we had two days of orientation in Vancouver where we met people going to other Canadian resorts (Big White and Cyprus). This enabled us to meet participants from all over the world, get a SIN number, open a Canadian bank account and shop around for anything needed before heading to the resort.

In about a week, we are all sitting the CASI Level 1 exam which focuses on basic riding and teaching skills. Our trainers are setting us up for success by suggesting improvements both with our equipment and the way we ride. Additionally, we are slowly learning how to teach others by giving each other small lessons about a specific skill on the slopes.

Best of luck to Charlotte for her upcoming exam! Revelstoke is sounding epic this winter, and if you want to experience it next year check out here for more info, or get in touch with the team at EA to discuss which course will suit you best!
