Mt. Ruapehu is situated in the centre of the North Island, New Zealand in the beautiful Tongariro National Park and offers some of the best natural ski terrain in New Zealand.
Mt. Ruapehu is home to two world-class ski resorts, Whakapapa and Tūroa making it New Zealand's largest winter playground. EA Ski & Snowboard has unique programs at both ski areas, designed to suit each mountain.
Here you'll find big bowls, loads of cliff drops, and epic powder stashes for the avid powder hunters.

Mt. Ruapehu Ski facts
Mt. Ruapehu is a true Kiwi mountain, with holidaymakers from around the country coming back year after year. Speak to any of those people who have been visiting the ski field for years and they will tell you, "you can't beat Ruapehu on a bluebird!"
With the season beginning in June and going right through till early November (and sometimes later), Mt Ruapehu consistently has the Southern Hemisphere's longest season.
Mt. Ruapehu is a volcanic mountain. The volcano rocks offer a variety of natural chutes, drops, bowls, jumps and wide runs.
With 24, lift-accessed black diamond runs, there is plenty of terrain to push your skiing and snowboarding ability further.
More commonly known as Mt. Doom, Mt Ngauruhoe is an active volcano and daredevil skiers often climb up for the thrill of the ride down, while many scenes were also shot on Mt Ruapehu itself.

Certification Overview
Our Ski and Snowboard Internships at Mt. Ruapehu allows you
to obtain a globally recognised qualification with the NZSIA (New Zealand Ski Instructors Alliance).
The NZSIA has a long-standing history and has been training and qualifying ski instructors in its system since 1971. It is internationally recognised as a well-established, professional provider and has a reputation for high-quality and knowledge. This means that NZSIA instructors are able to competently perform and teach on snow in many cultures and conditions. This qualification can truly take you anywhere.

EA Ski & Snowboard want you to have the best season possible at Mt. Ruapehu. This means that we have someone on the ground at both Tūroa and Whakapapa, who is easily contacted and there to offer advice and support at all times. Not only are they familiar with Whakapapa and Tūroa, but they also work for the ski school and will be a familiar face to make your gap year and first winter season that much easier.
