Ever since Charlie can remember skiing has been his passion. As soon as he finished school in the UK he jumped straight onto our ski instructor course in Japan to turn that passion into a career.
We caught up with him to find out how his ski instructor course went and to see what it's like working as a ski instructor in Japan.
Why did you want to do a ski instructor course?
I wanted to do a ski instructor course to further my skiing ability and develop my understanding of the sport whilst adding something amazing to my C.V.
What was your favourite thing about Japan?
My favourite thing about Japan was the food, Japanese cuisine is awesome.
What was working as a ski instructor like?
Working as an instructor was way more in-depth than I imagined, throughout the season I got to meet so many great people and form relationships with many other like-minded people who are as passionate about skiing.
What were your highlights of the ski season?
My highlight of the season has to be shredding the deepest lightest powder of my life. I remember the day where we were only meant to get 30cm and we woke up to over 70cms.

Hi I'm Charlie from the UK. I've been skiing since I was five, mostly in France in Austria, and for as long as I can remember it's been my passion. After finishing school I went straight to Japan to do my first ski season with EA Ski & Snowboard.
I wanted to do the EA program in Shiga Kogen to experience the Japow, develop my skiing ability as well as experiencing new culture.
Shiga has very diverse terrain from well-groomed runs to park and amazing off-piste. The groomed runs offer the perfect terrain to teach from.
Japan typically gets the most snowfall in the world, it's been a surreal experience skiing such light dry and deep snow and overcoming the challenge of not being able to breathe from all the face shots!
The training was in-depth and very interesting to learn about skiing from a different perspective, it allowed me to feel more than confident in teaching after my exam.
It's been a fun season and I would highly encourage anyone to jump on a course to experience the best winter of your life.
