You will become part of a tight knit team and have great opportunities to develop your instructing skills. First year intern instructors are offered weekend employment contracts. This means you will work every weekend and there is a high likelihood you will work more than this, especially during holidays. For those still wanting more work there are opportunities to cross-train in other departments such as lifts, sales, rentals etc.
People often ask how much it costs to buy food and drink so here’s our shopping list rundown:
A burger and a beer from one of the craft beer spots in Comox (land and sea, Church St Tap House or Gladstones) $25
A large pizza from the famous Riders Pizza in Cumberland $30

Seasonal accommodation for the EA Mt Washington internship is provided at the Coast Courtenay Hotel in the Comox Valley. Interns will stay in a comfortable twin-share room with two queen beds, offering a practical and relaxed space for the full winter season. The room includes a full fridge, microwave, two-burner cooktop, and basic cookware, dishes, and utensils, allowing interns to easily prepare meals during their stay.
Each room also features free Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV, telephone, work desk, and a sitting area, creating a comfortable place to relax or get organized after a day on the mountain. Additional in-room amenities include a coffee and tea maker, as well as individually controlled heating and air conditioning for personal comfort.
Hotel amenities include coin-operated laundry facilities, a seasonal outdoor pool, and a covered BBQ gazebo area with seating and a fire pit, offering convenient options for both everyday living and downtime with fellow interns.
Conveniently located in Courtenay, the hotel sits right next to the Mt Washington staff bus stop, making daily travel to and from the resort easy and convenient. Staff bus pickups prioritize those scheduled to work or attend training; however, interns will also have the opportunity to use the bus on days off for skiing, subject to space availability.
EA will cover accommodation during the initial Level 1 training period as part of your course. Following this, accommodation will cost approximately CAD $950 per month for the remainder of the season.

EA Ski and Snowboard Training want you to have the best season possible this winter at Mt Washington. We have one program manager who oversees the running of our instructor courses who is easily contactable and there to offer advice and support at all times. Not only are they familiar with Mount Washington itself, but they also work for the ski school and will be a familiar face to make your gap year and first winter season that much easier.

Our Ski Instructor Internships allow you to obtain a globally recognised qualification with the PSIC (Ski).
The PSIC qualification is highly regarded in the industry and a qualification with the Canadian system will build your technical understanding and allow you to effectively instruct skiing.
