Welcome to the Island. Close to the big city of Vancouver but far enough away to escape the crowds this Resort is a top pick.
Voted in the top #10 snow parks in all of BC as well as having ‘The Outback’; a 400-acre playground of rich glades, magnificent bowls and steep drops – there is something for everyone. High speed lifts and a family friendly vibe will make you want to return.
Mt Washington Alpine Resort has an ideal spread of terrain with 14% beginner, 35% intermediate, 36% advanced, and 15% expert. The beginner and intermediate terrain bring a lot of families and instructor work to the area, while the Outback zone with its combo of trees and open slopes caters for those wanting double black diamond runs.

You will become part of a tight knit team and have great opportunities to develop your instructing skills. First year intern instructors are offered weekend employment contracts. This means you will work every weekend and there is a high likelihood you will work more than this, especially during holidays. For those still wanting more work there are opportunities to cross-train in other departments such as lifts, sales, rentals etc.
People often ask how much it costs to buy food and drink so here’s our shopping list rundown:
A burger and a beer from one of the craft beer spots in Comox (land and sea, Church St Tap House or Gladstones) $25
A large pizza from the famous Riders Pizza in Cumberland $30
You will be accommodated in the closest town to the Resort which is Courtenay. Previous groups have stayed at the Crown Isle Resort which is a resort conveniently located close to shops, amenities. Accommodation will be shared with access to facilities such as kitchen, bathroom, etc as required.
For transport Mt Washington staff buses currently do a pick up and drop off from Crown Isle Resort which works really well for our programs. This can be used on trainings and days off. However, on days off we give priority to the staff that are working. There are also other pick up and drop off locations through town.
EA Ski & Snowboard Training want you to have the best season possible this winter. We have one program manager who oversees the running of our instructor courses who is easily contactable and there to offer advice and support at all times. Not only are they familiar with Mount Washington itself, but they also work for the ski school and will be a familiar face to make your gap year and first winter season that much easier.
Our Ski Instructor Internships allow you to obtain a globally recognised qualification with the CSIA (Ski).
CSIA has internationally recognised ski associations and are the governing bodies for ski instructor qualifications in Canada. CSIA teaching qualifications are highly regarded in the industry and a qualification with the Canadian system will build your technical understanding and allow you to effectively instruct skiing.
