Located at the top of the north island in Japan, Appi Kogen has that famous quality dry powder snow and lots of tree runs so it is the perfect location to master your skills. It is a big area with a total of 21 designated courses, and a total piste distance of 43,100m. Appi Kogen is located next to Hachimantai which is famous as Japan’s largest frost-covered tree area at 40 degrees north. The North facing slopes ensure high quality powder snow with low humidity due to the Northerly latitude. The tree skiing zone is substantial with 6 designated areas!

Before arriving in Japan, you will complete your training in Saas-Fee, a world-class ski resort nestled among Switzerland’s highest alpine peaks. Famous for its long, scenic runs and dramatic mountain scenery, Saas-Fee is uniquely surrounded by numerous 4,000-meter summits, creating an unforgettable training environment.
Appi Kogen offers a quiet authentic Japanese experience with cheap staff accommodation just a 10 minute walk to the slopes, discounted meals. It is an epic spot to spend you winter in Japan. A new and growing international ski school will become your new extended family through the season. Work levels will fluctuate but there are also staff training opportunities towards further certifications available.
Accommodation is provided in nearby Saas-Grund, a traditional Swiss ski village just a short bus ride from the Saas-Fee lift station. You’ll stay in a chalet-style lodge, sharing a room with 3 to 5 other trainees. The lodge includes a large communal kitchen, dining area, ski room, Wi-Fi, and a TV. It’s a cozy and convenient base for your alpine training adventure.
During your instructor internship with EA Ski and Snowboard Training at Appi Kogen, you'll be accommodated in staff housing. You can choose from door-style rooms, lodge-style rooms, or apartments, with costs varying based on your selection. Shared options include access to communal living areas and bathrooms. Some accommodations may feature traditional Japanese tatami-style beds.

Our ski instructor course at Saas-Fee, Switzerland allows you to obtain a globally recognised qualification with the BASI (British Association of Snowsports Instructors). BASI formally constituted in 1963, is a UK based membership and its qualification pathway is recognised internationally and BASI is a member of the International Ski Instructors Association (ISIA).
