What it's like working at

What it's like training in

Big White

Big White is only 45 minutes away from Kelowna, the third largest city in British Columbia offering shopping, restaurants, nightlife for you to enjoy in your free time.

On a ski instructor internship plus program at Big White, new instructors will work in the Kids Center, initially on a part time style contract as this fits in with your training demands and schedule as you work towards your level 2 depending on course type. You can expect to be busy with work over the Christmas and New Year period with less work during the quieter weeks in January onwards. Your further training towards your level 2 is designed to make the most of this period. At Big White we also have the option for you to do a training only program, focused on an intense 10 weeks of training and exams with no work – ideal if you are not eligible for a working holiday visa or simply looking for a non-work based program.

For the 10 week training program participants at Big White looking to gain employment for the following season, the program is considered to be a 10 week opportunity to prove yourself. With a letter of recommendation from your trainer at the end of the course, you will be eligible for a guaranteed job interview with Big White for the following winter season.

Certification Overview

Our ski internship plus program at Big White, British Columbia, allows you to obtain a globally recognised qualification with CSIA.

The CSIA is an internationally recognised ski association and are the governing bodies for ski instructor qualifications in Canada. The CSIA qualification is highly regarded in the industry and a qualification with the Canadian system will build your technical understanding and allow you to effectively instruct skiing.

Remember that if you are taking a plus internship, the level 2 exam fees are not included as not everyone chooses to sit these.
