What it's like working at

What it's like training in

Club Med Hokkaido

Here are some points to sum up the Club Med instructor internship:

  • Ski lessons will be two hours in the morning followed by two hours in the afternoon
  • You will work six days per week
  • You will have access to all resort amenities including gym, heated swimming pool, bars and restaurants
  • You will get free drinks at the resort bar when entertaining guests
  • You will get a full-time salary package for the whole winter season
  • You need to be at least 20 years of age and have an outgoing personality
  • After food, accommodation and tax deductions, you will earn a take-home salary of approximately $1300 USD each month

During Training

Your training for the level 1 will take place at Karuizawa, this is on the main island of Japan and it opens early in November. This is extremely handy as it allows you to start work at Club Med from the very start of the season and begin earning earlier in the season. You will be provided with accommodation, transport, lift passes and local support during this period and will stay in a traditional Japanese style accommodation in the nearby Saku City, which is a great opportunity to see a different part of Japan. You can expect early season conditions here and mostly man made snow - for training for the level 1 this is great as you can focus on the foundation skills required. The snow generally starts coming thick and fast in Japan from late November onwards, so you can focus on training initially and then be available to enjoy the powder later on! There may be an additional charge for a meal plan during the training and exam period in Karuizawa. Exact price and inclusions are to be confirmed.
