During Training

Your training for the level 1 will take place at Karuizawa, this is on the main island of Japan and it opens early in November. This is extremely handy as it allows you to start work at Hakuba SSS from the very start of the season and begin earning earlier in the season. You will be provided with accommodation, transport, lift passes and local support during this period and will stay in a traditional Japanese style accommodation in the nearby Saku City, which is a great opportunity to see a different part of Japan. You can expect early season conditions here and mostly man made snow - for training for the level 1 this is great as you can focus on the foundation skills required. The snow generally starts coming thick and fast in Japan from late November onwards, so you can focus on training initially and then be available to enjoy the powder later on.

Accommodation

All instructors will stay in staff accommodations which are convenient, affordable, comfortable, and close to work. Staff accommodation at Hakuba SSS is approximately 35000 Yen per month for a twin share room.

*The above is an indicative based on last season and is subject to change based on availability and updates to pricing

Program Manager

EA Ski & Snowboard want you to have the best season possible in Hakuba. We have a program manager on the ground, who is easily contacted and there to offer advice and support at all times. Not only are they familiar with Hakuba itself, but they will also be a familiar face to make your gap year and first winter season that much easier.

Certification Overview

Our Ski and Snowboard Instructor Course at Hakuba SSS allows you to obtain a globally recognised qualification with the NZSIA (New Zealand Ski Instructors Alliance) or SBINZ (Snowboard Instruction New Zealand).
